“Ljiljana, are you sure? Is it really me? I am a Project Competition Winner this year!?” It is the chance of a lifetime, a unique opportunity to stay in and be a part of the Oxford University world. Now I am THERE! I am the lucky one! Keble College at last!
I am very eager to attend lectures. Since I teach young learners I find the topics of the Oxford Teachers’ Academy very useful and productive. Teaching reading and vocabulary, using technology in the classroom, managing mixed classes, songs and chants meet my needs and I will certainly make the most of it in my class, because I want to be a teacher who teaches children not lessons. Our inspiring tutors, Olha and Naomi, introduce different approaches to language teaching, selflessly sharing their ideas and experience with us. Our hosts, Joanna and James, do their best to make our stay pleasant and memorable. The lectures are held in the OUP building, the breathtaking mixture of traditional and modern architecture.
Oxford in general is quite hmm… How shall I put it in a word?! Impressive! I could talk for ages about how wonderful it looks and is. However, anyone having been there knows that no photograph can show or catch the atmosphere, the essence and the real beauty of Oxford because in this town you just don't know where to look. Every street we pass, every college, (book) shop or pub we visit, are so picturesque and 'photogenic' that I, even controlling myself as much as I can, end up in snapping all the time. The pile of photos, a bunch of memories and only two pubs highlighted… Next time!
